How does massage and chiropractic care complement one another?

Massage and chiropractic care are two complementary therapies that can work together to provide a holistic approach to improving overall health and well-being. While they may seem like different types of treatments, they have a lot in common and can work together to help reduce pain and improve mobility. At HealthWorks Family Chiropractic we use a chiropractic technique called Orthospinology. This is done through gentle and precise adjustments using an activator to help reduce pain. Massage therapy involves the manipulation of soft tissues like muscles, ligaments, and tendons to help reduce tension and improve circulation.

The combination of massage and chiropractic care can be especially effective for those who suffer from chronic pain, stiffness, or limited mobility. This is because the two therapies work together to help address the root causes of these issues, rather than just treating the symptoms. Massage therapy can help to enhance the effectiveness of chiropractic care by releasing tension and allowing the body to be more malleable while adjusting. When muscles are tense, they can pull on joints and cause misalignments that can lead to pain and inflammation.

Does massage therapy and chiropractic relieve stress?

In addition to enhancing chiropractic care, massage therapy can also provide benefits to the body. For example, it can help to improve circulation, which can reduce inflammation and promote healing. It can also help to improve flexibility and range of motion, which can reduce the risk of injury.

Another benefit of combining massage and chiropractic care is that they can help to reduce stress and promote relaxation. By reducing stress, your body can spend its energy resting and taking care of itself instead of using its energy to protect areas that are inflamed or in pain.

At HealthWorks Family Chiropractic, in addition to using Orthospinolgy, we also are an upper cervical chiropractic clinic. What we specialize in is making sure the skull, the atlas (C1), and the axis (C2) are in alignment before focusing on the rest of the body. Having the atlas more specifically in alignment is key to preparing to reduce stress on the rest of the body. Coupling massage therapy with the atlas adjustment is a beneficial way to make sure the body is on the road to recovery and able to relax.
