Dr. Jennifer Taylor

I had just graduated from Humble High School and was truly disillusioned with my studies at The University of Houston. As many high school graduates feel, I just didn’t have a clue what I wanted to be when I grew up. I thought it was a good idea to take some time off to determine what direction to go. Well, my father didn’t share my enthusiasm. So, I headed out to find a full-time job while on my “break.”…

Little did I know that my career path would soon reveal itself through the life changes I witnessed while working as a Chiropractic Assistant.

While working in that role, I wanted to further my studies in natural healing and in 1995 I concluded my studies in massage therapy. I then started a thriving massage practice in Austin, Texas and worked closely with area chiropractors. However, in 1997, after seeing a child with a medically hopeless case regain her health and vitality through chiropractic care, I realized that I needed to do more.

Becoming a chiropractor was the calling I had been waiting for all this time and I immediately started working on the prerequisites to enter chiropractic college. I finally began my studies at Parker College of Chiropractic in January of 2001. I was truly humbled every day by how miraculous the human body is and how powerful it can be if and when the nervous system is functioning optimally. I graduated in January 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Doctorate of Chiropractic.

In 2004, I married my husband, Ron. My son, Gavin, was born in 2005 and my daughter, Madeline, in 2009. Both of our children were born with the aid of a midwife, outside a hospital, which was one of the most beautiful experiences of our lives. Both of our children received a chiropractic adjustment within hours of being born. Chiropractic care is essentially the only form of healthcare they know. We have chosen not to vaccinate and only use a family medical doctor that specializes in homeopathy for yearly checkups.

My most recent journey has been an academic one. I embarked on a 2 ½ year program, starting in 2016, to become Board Certified in the specific upper cervical technique that we specialize in here at HealthWorks. In March of 2019, I passed all my board exams and now am one of only two in Texas that have the title Diplomate of Chiropractic in Craniocervical Junction Procedures (DCCJP). What does that mean to you? That means that HealthWorks is committed to serving our community with the most up-to-date, specialized training to help even the most severe of cases, especially those with chronic migraines, vertigo, traumatic brain injury and other degenerative neurological challenges.

Committed to living a wellness lifestyle:

There aren’t many parents that can say their children have never been prescribed ANY drug (not even antibiotics!), or have never experienced severe allergies and chronic health conditions (like asthma) that have become so pervasive with children today and are sadly considered normal. As our family grew, so did our commitment to living a wellness lifestyle. Living congruently between our spiritual, home, and work life is crucial to being able to provide quality preventive healthcare. We have found that striving to put God first in our lives makes it much easier to keep the proper perspective and make the right decisions in life. I never expect our practice members to make changes in their lifestyles that I or my family wouldn’t strive to do ourselves.

Whatever your health goals, we are here for you!

I believe that health is our most important asset, and our office is here to support you in becoming the very best version of yourself. But, I also realize that not everyone is ready to completely dive into changing every aspect of their lives. I actually never recommend that, as it usually sets one up for failure. In our office, you are the boss. I will give you my best recommendations to achieve your desired goals and we will work as a team to get you there using logical and achievable steps.

Give our Plano office a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.

I believe we are capable of living the life of our dreams—to make every day turn into a more extraordinary tomorrow. And what more important tool do you need to live your very own life of purpose than your health? I feel so passionate about helping others gain their health after a pivotal life experience of my own…

My health journey started with the birth of my oldest son. It was a hot July day in 1997 when Taylor was born. He was exactly 8 pounds with white-blonde hair and the chubbiest little cheeks. Grandmas would stop us in the grocery store to coo over Taylor and tell us he looked like the Gerber baby.

Taylor was healthy by all standards I knew, he had no major illnesses and we spent the first year experiencing milestones and growing together. And then things changed. In 1998, Taylor began to experience ear infections, a snotty nose, and “allergies” that just never went away. Month after month, we visited the pediatrician, Taylor’s chubby little baby hands pulling at his ears and his eyes full of tears. Month after month, we were sent home with yet another prescription for antibiotics and no other options.

As a mother who wanted the very best for my baby, I was frustrated and my gut told me there was a better way. We were not solving any problems, and meanwhile, long-term dangers of antibiotic use were starting to come to light in the media. With the then-new technology of Google, I was able to begin researching other options. We stopped milk products and started to use garlic oil ear drops, we ate organic and even started switching to non-toxic cleaners and detergents. It did make some difference, but the ear infections persisted. That’s when I found a research article about chiropractic care and ear infections. This article explained how subluxation – inflammation in the nerve system – can cause ill health, and it’s quite common to find this among children with chronic ear infections.

A short week later, Taylor and I made our first trip to the chiropractor.

She did find that Taylor had nerve inflammation at a critical area of the spine called Atlas/ C1. And, moments later, a miracle happened for our small family – Taylor had his first adjustment. Following that first adjustment, Taylor never had another ear infection, his “allergies” resolved, and I rarely saw another snotty nose.

In the years that followed, I came to know more about subluxation and health – it’s not just about ear infections or children, it affects all age groups and can cause dysfunction in any part of the body. The nerve system controls all of our body’s health and healing, and when the nerves are compromised, ill health follows.

Three years after Taylor’s first adjustment, I was enrolled at Parker College of Chiropractic here in Dallas, Texas.

I want to help your family get and stay well, too…

Because of my own experiences with Taylor, and later my other sons, Josh and Logan, I am extremely passionate about family health and wellness. Our mission statement starts with, “HealthWorks creates a community of health and wellness.” It is my firm belief that our families deserve a level of health that allows them to live a life full of potential and growth.

Enough about me! HealthWorks is about YOU… I would love the opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your health journey. Whether you’re experiencing a challenge or looking to join a community that will exponentially increase your health for a lifetime, please give our Plano office a call today!
