Meet Our Doctors
Dr. Jennifer Taylor, DC
I’ve always believed that there is no such thing as coincidences in life. Finding my passion for helping others through chiropractic care was no different. Each step in my life has brought me to where I am today; helping my community to become happier, healthier and live to their fullest potential!
Little did I know that this decision would soon reveal itself through the life and health changes I witnessed and experienced while working as a Chiropractic Assistant.
While working in that role, I wanted to further my studies in natural healing and in 1995 I concluded my studies in massage therapy. I then started a thriving massage practice in Austin, Texas and worked closely with area chiropractors. However, in 1997, after seeing so many patients regain their life and health through upper cervical chiropractic care, I realized that I needed to do more.
I began my studies at Parker College of Chiropractic in January of 2001. I was truly humbled every day by how miraculous the human body is and how powerful it can be when the nervous system is functioning optimally. I graduated in January 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Doctorate of Chiropractic.
Since graduation, I married my sweetheart, Ron and have two beautiful children—who are not so little anymore. As a family, we are committed to a wellness lifestyle. We do this through chiropractic care, sourcing real food from local sources and even partner with medical doctors and dentists that practice using a more holistic approach for our other healthcare needs.
My most recent journey has been an academic one. I embarked on a 3-year program, starting in 2016. My training included becoming certified in Orthospinology, the specific upper cervical technique utilized at HealthWorks, and March of 2019, I completed my Diplomate in Chiropractic Craniocervical Junction Procedures (DCCJP), a 3-year course with in-depth studies of the upper cervical spine that was awarded through The International Chiropractic Association Upper Cervical Council.
I have also recently been honored with a 3-year Directorship in the ICA Upper Cervical Council, and serving on the Advisory Council on my technique board, Chiropractic Orthospinology and a featured speaker at my annual Orthospinology Symposiums.
What does all that mean? That means that HealthWorks is committed to serving our community with the most up-to-date, training to help support even the most severe of cases, especially those with chronic migraines, vertigo, dizziness and even those that are still suffering from post-concussive headaches and other biomechanical and/or neuro-physiological reflections that may be related to the upper cervical spine.
This brings me to a special invitation:
Conditions like headaches, migraines, dizziness, neck pain, low back pain, are the body’s way of saying something is wrong. If left untreated they can lead to chronic and severe pain.
Because we’re committed to helping the local community, we’re offering a consultation, exam, and digital X-rays (if necessary) for only $47. This is normally valued at $150. We have helped many people with these conditions using safe and NON-SURGICAL and DRUG-FREE methods. Call (972) 612-1800 or visit the link below to sign up for an appointment.
Our schedule fills up quickly and we only have room on the appointment books for a limited number of new patients each month. Call us today before the symptoms worsen and spots are all taken.

I believe we are capable of living the life of our dreams—to make every day turn into a more extraordinary tomorrow. And what more important tool do you need to live your very own life of purpose than your health? I feel so passionate about helping others gain their health after a pivotal life experience of my own…
Taylor was healthy by all standards I knew, he had no major illnesses and we spent the first year experiencing milestones and growing together. And then things changed. In 1998, Taylor began to experience ear infections, a snotty nose, and “allergies” that just never went away. Month after month, we visited the pediatrician, Taylor’s chubby little baby hands pulling at his ears and his eyes full of tears. Month after month, we were sent home with yet another prescription for antibiotics and no other options.
As a mother who wanted the very best for my baby, I was frustrated and my gut told me there was a better way. We were not solving any problems, and meanwhile, long-term dangers of antibiotic use were starting to come to light in the media. With the then-new technology of Google, I was able to begin researching other options. We stopped milk products and started to use garlic oil ear drops, we ate organic and even started switching to non-toxic cleaners and detergents. It did make some difference, but the ear infections persisted. That’s when I found a research article about chiropractic care and ear infections. This article explained how subluxation – inflammation in the nerve system – can cause ill health, and it’s quite common to find this among children with chronic ear infections.
A short week later, Taylor and I made our first trip to the chiropractor.
She did find that Taylor had nerve inflammation at a critical area of the spine called Atlas/ C1. And, moments later, a miracle happened for our small family – Taylor had his first adjustment. Following that first adjustment, Taylor never had another ear infection, his “allergies” resolved, and I rarely saw another snotty nose.
In the years that followed, I came to know more about subluxation and health – it’s not just about ear infections or children, it affects all age groups and can cause dysfunction in any part of the body. The nerve system controls all of our body’s health and healing, and when the nerves are compromised, ill health follows.
Three years after Taylor’s first adjustment, I was enrolled at Parker College of Chiropractic here in Dallas, Texas.
I want to help your family get and stay well, too…
Because of my own experiences with Taylor, and later my other sons, Josh and Logan, I am extremely passionate about family health and wellness. Our mission statement starts with, “HealthWorks creates a community of health and wellness.” It is my firm belief that our families deserve a level of health that allows them to live a life full of potential and growth.
Enough about me! HealthWorks is about YOU… I would love the opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your health journey. Whether you’re experiencing a challenge or looking to join a community that will exponentially increase your health for a lifetime, please give our Plano office a call today!

Dr. Kara Penson, DC
I attended the University of Oklahoma and majored in Health and Exercise Science. I had always known from a young age that I wanted to work in the healthcare field, I just was not sure what field was for me. Within the HES major we had a class that was dedicated to having different healthcare providers come and talk to us about their chosen fields of practice. One of the speakers was a Doctor of Chiropractic. Right off the bat I could tell that this doctor was passionate about his career and absolutely loved his job. A light bulb went on in my head and I thought, I want to love my job as much as this guy does! From that point on my interest and passion for chiropractic began to grow and flourish.
I immediately called my mom’s chiropractor and set up my first appointment. I received my first chiropractic adjustment within a week. I did not realize how much stress I was putting my body through while studying in college until I saw my own x-rays. After my first few adjustments, I noticed some changes happening with my body. I was no longer getting headaches after studying for more than an hour and my seasonal allergies were no longer bothering me. I was amazed at the changes I was noticing and knew that chiropractic was the career path for me.
I applied to Parker University that day and began my own chiropractic journey in 2017. My passion for helping others grew while in school and I was excited to start my career. I graduated from Parker in 2020 with my Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
Throughout my learning process, I have gathered many tools and techniques to make sure that you will get the best care possible from me. The art of chiropractic has taught me to never stop learning and how important it is to keep mastering my skills over time. Expanding my knowledge has allowed me to help patients live their best lives.
Each of you deserves to live your life to the fullest and chiropractic care can help you to achieve this. Finding an alternate solution for health is important and understanding that your healing comes from within. So, let me help start your healing today!
